BibTeX

Henrik Bengtsson, 2004-01-12

Guides and examples

  • Norman Walsh, BibTeX, part of http://nwalsh.com/tex/, Webpage 2003.
  • A BibTeX Guide Through Examples by Ki-Joo Kim. "This document describes how to (i) modify citation styles in your body text, (ii) make your own bibliography style (.bst) file using the custom-bib program (from CTAN), and (iii) modify the bibliography style file for your taste or book company's taste."

BibTeX management tools

  • jabref (see also below) - A really great and super-simple-to-use, but also to install cross-platform (Java v1.4.2+) BibTeX database manager that supports many BibTeX, Endnote, Medline etc. recommended.
  • tkbibtex - a portable Tcl/Tk browser/editor for BibTeX files for Unix, Windows and Mac.

JabRef

JabRef (http://jabref.sourceforge.net/) is available on all Solaris machines at MC. It's a really great and super-simple-to-install cross-platform (Java v1.4.2+) BibTeX database manager that supports many BibTeX, Endnote, Medline (automatically download based on ID!) etc. Try it by typing

 jabref ~/hb/bibtex/hb-at-maths.lth.se.bib &

at the prompt. Here's a screenshot.
